UW Seattle Campus Recycling

Recycling WEEE (e-waste) on the UW Seattle Campus

The UW Seattle Campus has a wide range of resources available to students, faculty, and staff for recycling electronic waste in a responsible manner.

  • If the item you are seeking to recycle was purchased with university funds (including state and federal grant funds), the item should be recycled through UW Surplus.
  • Small items (the size of a laptop computer or smaller) can be deposited in blue e-waste bins located in the Paul Allen Center Atrium (one on the CSE side and one on the EE side of the building) or in Room 137 of the Electrical Engineering Building on the Seattle campus.
  • The following small items can be placed in e.Media bins at various locations on the UW Seattle Campus (see here for locations):  non-confidential electronic media including CDs, DVDs, videotapes, audiotapes, computer disks, and media cases; cell phones, pagers, PDAs, smart phones, small electronics; inkjet and bubble jet printer cartridges; and batteries (alkaline, carbon, zinc, lithium, nickel-cadmium, nickel, metal hydride, and silver oxide)
  • If the item you are seeking to recycle does not fit into any of the categories above, it can be recycled off campus by county.
